Preventive Dentist Serving Indianapolis
At Indy Dental Group, we’re always here to assist patients with restorative and cosmetic needs – but we also want to protect you and your family from ever needing those treatments in the first place. Preventive services are designed to catch problem areas as soon as they arise, potentially preventing more serious damage and cost down the road. Indy Dental Group wants to help patients of all ages feel confident about the future of their smiles.
Our practice offers five separate locations in Indianapolis, Carmel, and Westfield, IN. Please contact us today if you have any questions our team can help you with, or if you’re ready to schedule an appointment.
Check-ups & Cleanings
We recommend coming in for a regular exam and hygiene appointment every six months, or twice each year. During these visits, our doctors and staff members will take their time to learn all they can about your unique smile, providing a thorough visual inspection, digital X-rays, and more. Oral cancer screenings are also a routine and vital part of check-ups. Once we understand your current needs, we can make recommendations for treatments that will effectively treat any problems or pain.
Another threat to your happy, healthy smile is bacteria-filled plaque, which is constantly forming in the mouth and on tooth surfaces. While regular brushing and flossing does a good job of getting rid of this substance, missed areas can lead to decay, periodontal disease, and other problems. That’s where our hygienists come in. During your routine cleanings, they’ll clear away plaque and its more stubborn tartar form, leaving you with a mouth that feels refreshed.
Children’s Dentistry
We enjoy taking care of families and helping smiles of all ages stay bright and healthy. Your son or daughter will always be treated gently and kindly, and we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any potential dental problems that could require intervention later on. Dental sealants, fluoride treatment, and other kid-friendly services are available.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a simple preventive service that can be a big help for both younger patients who are still learning how to brush and floss and older adults who struggle with decay-sensitive teeth. Our team will paint them directly onto the chewing surfaces of certain back teeth, closing off the deep grooves to food particles and bacteria that tend to accumulate there. This helps reduce the chances of cavities forming over time, and the application process is quick and painless.
Mouthguards
Indy Dental Group offers a wide variety of mouthguards, including athletic guards. We personalize your mouthguard so that it fits comfortably and feels secure over your smile. Our doctors strongly recommend mouthguards for patients who participate in sports where physical contact with other players or objects is a possibility, as well as those who suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding) and are in need of protection for their teeth.
TMJ Treatment
Your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) may be small, but they have a very important function – they connect your jawbone to your skull, allowing patients to speak and eat successfully. However, this means that even the slightest irritation or misalignment can throw the entire system off-balance, resulting in severe discomfort. During routine check-ups, our doctors will screen for signs of TMJ disorder and provide customized treatment options if needed to help alleviate pain, such as oral appliance therapy.
Fluoride Treatment
Most of us drink fluoridated water on a regular basis without even realizing it – but that’s not a bad thing. Fluoride is a natural mineral, and studies have repeatedly shown that its presence in a person’s diet can lead to stronger teeth and fewer cavities over time. This happens because fluoride works to harden a patient’s enamel. During regular check-ups, our team may determine that you or your children aren’t receiving enough fluoride (this is likely if you mostly consume bottled water); in these cases, we may recommend professional applications here at Indy Dental Group to better protect your smiles.
Sleep Apnea Therapy
Do you struggle with loud, chronic snoring all through the night and severe fatigue during the day? Are headaches and dry throat a constant part of your morning routine? These are common signs of obstructive sleep apnea, a serious health condition that’s caused by a blocked airway. Many patients don’t even realize that a dental office can help treat their sleep apnea, but it’s true. At Indy Dental Group, we offer customized oral appliances (“snoreguards”) that can comfortably reposition your jaw during sleep and help you finally rest easy.
CPAP Alternative
Have you been struggling with sleep apnea? Do you find traditional CPAP therapy to be challenging or uncomfortable? If so, you're in the right place. We understand that managing sleep apnea is essential for your overall well-being, and that's why we're here to explore alternative solutions that might better suit your needs.
